Almost 700 thousand foreigners received Russian citizenship in 2022

More than 691,000 foreigners received Russian citizenship last year. This is 44 thousand less than in 2021, according to the materials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the migration situation in Russia for 2022.
“In January – December 2022, the number of persons in respect of whom a decision was made to acquire citizenship of the Russian Federation is 691,045,” the materials say.
In 2021, the number of foreigners granted citizenship was 735,385.
Also, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for 2022 banned the entry into the country of more than 141 thousand foreign citizens, which is 35 thousand less than in 2021.
