At one time, Ekaterina Shavrina was admired by everyone without exception. The bright, energetic singer drove both men and women crazy. Recently, little has been heard about the legendary performer. MK correspondents contacted Ekaterina and found out the whole truth about her current life.

In an exclusive interview, Shavrina spoke frankly about her current life, friendship with Pugacheva and real estate in Cyprus.

“They don’t show me much on TV, because I don’t have the talent to go and offer to film myself. When they take it, I go with pleasure. But so far there are no invitations. Although I have an amazing repertoire, there are also new songs. But what to do? Apparently there are enough performers there without me. I haven’t had this for a long time now. I only occasionally film somewhere. But I don’t even worry about it, because I have a lot of work. And the concerts are always sold out. If the people didn’t come to me, it would be a different matter. And my hits are good: so many songs have gone to the people! The audience is waiting and loving. I work a lot, I travel a lot. I was in the Urals, recently arrived from Siberia. It wasn’t that easy, but I worked through it.

— You had a birthday not long ago (the artist turned 81). Can you feel your age?

– No. I look at myself and realize that I haven’t changed at all: I look good. Both before and now – I run and drive all the time. I somehow try not to think about age. I’m in a good mood all the time. Sometimes, somewhere in my head, when I go to bed, I can think, analyze everything, understand what way out of this or that situation, for example… My youth was difficult. I was without an apartment, wandering around Moscow… I don’t want such repetitions ever again.

— I think they quickly gave you an apartment?

— Yes, I was homeless for several years. As soon as I started studying, I got it… They gave me a hostel, but I lived there separately. I had several rooms – apparently there had been a hotel in that building before. Therefore, to be honest, I didn’t experience much difficulty. I was just very lucky that I created the choir at the factory. We performed with him everywhere and traveled abroad. Of course, my merits were appreciated very well. Yes, I tried too.

— Do you now spend most of your time in Moscow or outside the city?

— I have an apartment in the center. I just arrived from there to a country house. I have a warm house, with a bathhouse. Very good. Some people spend money on rags, but I invested in real estate. My children grew up and began to help. And I immediately bought a house. And wonderful, thank you Lord…

— You also had housing in Cyprus!

– It still exists. True, I had a house there, but I exchanged it for an apartment.

– Why?

— Because I’m so tired of cleaning. You arrive there and spend two days cleaning. There was so much glass, so many windows! I clean it myself: I don’t like it when someone cleans my place. And I’m so tired of poking around! An apartment is another matter! I arrived, dropped my suitcase, and went straight to the sea…

— Many of your colleagues have housing in Cyprus. Why is he so attractive to our stars?

– It’s very good there. Always warm, but not hot. Only August is hot there, the rest of the time there is freedom.

— After the sanctions, it probably became more difficult to get there?

– Yes, sure. Previously, you boarded a plane, more than three hours later – and you were already there. But I have adapted now. I fly through Armenia. In the morning I leave my house in Moscow, in the afternoon I’m already in Armenia. You sit there for a couple of hours, go have a snack, drink some tea… Then I get on the plane and arrive there closer to night.

— They write on the Internet that you recently had a divorce…

– I’m married, what kind of divorce? The divorce happened so long ago! Now I have a very good husband, modern, much younger than me. We live very well. And what they write about divorce on the Internet is also not bad. Let them not know what is really going on with me. (Laughs.)

– The young husband is right in the footsteps of Pugacheva!

– Well, yes. (Laughs.) Not in terms of feet, but simply how things work out for everyone. I had few husbands. I’m only married for the third time.

— Do you currently maintain a relationship with Alla?

– No time. But we treat each other very well. We were very friends when we were young. And now we live nearby. Why should we share?

– Do you think she will come back?

– She never left. I went abroad: many people there have houses, what should I do now? For example, I can’t live without Moscow at all, I’m suffocating. I come abroad: ten days – and I already need to go home, to Moscow. And she is the same. I don’t know how you can leave Moscow forever. I don’t think she’s gone forever. Something there, apparently, connected with the peasant. There’s no need to blame her.

— Did Alla love Moscow before?

– Certainly. We studied so much together at GITIS, we went through so much in Moscow… She actually put us on our feet, made us people, “gave birth” to us… How does it feel to leave Moscow? This is our homeland. Pugacheva loves Moscow very much. No, no, she will never leave.

– Ekaterina, I can’t help but ask: what are you dreaming about now?

— I dream of resting more often. I’ve been planning to fly to Cyprus for at least a week for three months now, but, unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out yet. So, what should I dream about? I usually get everything I want. I’m persistent. If I want something, I definitely achieve it. I am hard-working and not afraid of work. There used to be times when I worked so much that I slept three to four hours a day. But nothing – she survived. Somewhere during the day I could take a little nap… It’s necessary – that means it’s necessary. And who will do it for me? I still live by this principle.
