All schools in Orsk, which was affected by the flood of the Ural River, have been transferred to distance learning since April 8, the government of the Orenburg region reported to RIA Novosti. More than 4 thousand people, including 885 children, were evacuated from the flooded areas of the Orenburg region.

“From April 8, all schools in Orsk will be transferred to distance learning until further notice,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

On the evening of April 5, a dam broke in Orsk and the Ural River began to flood the city. 4 thousand houses, in which about 11 thousand residents live, fell into the flood zone. By this morning, April 6, half of the Old Town microdistrict was under water. The authorities are urgently evacuating local residents, including forcibly. Head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia Alexander Kurenkov, who is in the Orenburg region, statedthat a critical situation has developed in Orsk due to a dam break.
