Starting from this academic year, all schools in the regional capital are conducting chess classes as part of extracurricular activities. First grade students attend lessons for free. Classes are held once a week. Teachers have undergone internships and advanced training.
Vologda Mayor Sergei Voropanov attended a chess lesson at school No. 31. He noted that 2.3 million rubles were allocated from the city budget to organize such classes. The funds were used to purchase chessboards and equip classrooms. Children are immersed in the learning process with interest. Chess stimulates the development of logical thinking.
At the end of the school year, first-graders will demonstrate their skills in a city chess tournament. It should be noted that chess clubs have also been created in kindergartens as part of additional education. Some of the students came to school with some knowledge of this sport.
