Algerian president ready to mediate in Ukrainian conflict

The President of the Arab Republic of Algeria, Abdelmajid Tebbun, said that his country could act as a mediator in the Ukrainian crisis. In an interview with Al Jazeera, he noted that Algeria has enough confidence for this decision and is ready to use its position in the world to help in the dialogue between Russia and Ukraine.
Earlier, the chairman of the Council of the Nation of Algeria, Salah Gujil, at a meeting with the chairman of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matvienko, also said that Algeria was ready to mediate in resolving the crisis in Ukraine. He stressed that the country is using its diplomatic ties to help find a peaceful solution to the conflict.
President Tebbun also said that he plans to visit Russia in May, but no dates have been set yet. According to the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, preparations for the visit have already begun.
