Silver medalist of the Beijing Olympics Alexandra Trusova withdrew from the Russian figure skating championship for medical reasons. This is stated in press release Figure Skating Federation of the Russian Federation.
RIA Novosti, citing a source, writes that the day before the short program of the championship, the figure skater felt unwell.
Alexandra Trusova is the first figure skater in history to perform five quadruple jumps in one program. October 1, 18-year-old Trusova passed from coach Eteri Tutberidze to Svetlana Sokolovskaya.
The Russian Figure Skating Championship will be held from 22 to 25 December in Krasnoyarsk. Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova, who underwent surgery on her leg in the summer, will also not participate in the championship. In women’s single skating, the reigning champion of Russia Kamila Valieva will perform.
