Air defense continues to work over Belgorod – the sounds of explosions can be heard. No casualties or damage have been reported yet. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense forces shot down two Tochka-U missiles and seven Vilkha MLRS missiles over the Belgorod region.
As RIA Novosti clarifies, the first explosions occurred at about 22:30 Moscow time, windows of houses shook, and car alarms went off.
City authorities warned residents about the threat of a missile attack. Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov advised those who were at home at the time of the shelling not to approach the windows.
Earlier it was reported that on January 2, Ukrainian formations fired 17 Alder missiles of their own design towards Belgorod; all the missiles were shot down by air defense systems.
