Artificial intelligence has a 25 percent chance of destroying us all, tech boss Dario Amodei warns ahead of the world’s first AI safety summit hosted by British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak next month.
According to the Daily Mail, artificial intelligence has a one in four chance of destroying humanity, a leading tech expert has warned.
Dario Amodei of artificial intelligence research company Anthropic argues that AI technology could destroy the world, either through fraud or abuse by humans.
He added: “The likelihood of something going catastrophically wrong on the scale of human civilization could be between 10 and 25 percent.”
But the expert told the technology podcast Logan Bartlett Show: “If we can avoid the downsides, then this is stuff about curing cancer, extending human life, solving problems like mental illness… I don’t think it’s beyond what it can do “
In response, Control AI campaigners told The Sun that the firms who believed there was a chance “that their products will kill you all” were the same ones “who make the decisions when it comes to regulation”.
Rishi Sunak will host the world’s first security summit dedicated to artificial intelligence next month, the Daily Mail recalls.
