American corporation Google added to the Gmail mail service, a new spam filter, Resilient & Efficient Text Vectorizer (RETVec), running on the TensorFlow neural network. According to the company, this is one of the largest service updates in recent years.

The new spam filter will be able to effectively recognize special characters, emoticons and typos, which previously only a human could thoughtfully do. The algorithm will also understand messages with graphically very similar characters, but different in meaning.

RETVec was trained on the basis of an advanced encoder; in general, the spam filter works in more than 100 languages. Google tried to make RETVec read texts like a human. According to the company, the new spam filter works 38% better than the previous one, and the number of false positives has also decreased by 19.4%.

Previously Google launched special generative artificial intelligence that will help users write draft letters in Gmail and Docs.
