The Turkish authorities are actively negotiating with Russia and Syria on the return of Syrian refugees to the province of Aleppo. As part of this initiative, the necessary infrastructure is also being prepared, according to the Turkish TV channel AHaber.
The new plan is aimed at the complete settlement of all issues related to illegal migration. The mechanism will be called Aleppo Model and will be supervised by the Turkish Interior Ministry.
The top priority is to provide refugees with housing and employment opportunities before they return to Syria. Housing is being built jointly with Qatar in “safe zones” controlled by Turkey in northern Syria. In addition, according to the channel, entrepreneurs from the provinces bordering Syria, especially from Gaziantep, expressed their intention to open enterprises in the “safe zones” being created.
“The main goal of this initiative is to establish a system of” safe zones “not only in Aleppo, but also in other provinces. Turkey is actively negotiating with Russia and Syria, focusing on the restoration of social and commercial activity in the province of Aleppo. If these efforts lead to recovery “safe zones” and the revitalization of life in Aleppo, hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees in Turkey will be able to return to their homeland,” emphasizes AHaber.
