Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Leonid Agutin spoke about the reasons why he did not choose SHAMAN (Yaroslav Dronov) when he performed in the Voice program.
In an interview with Nadezhda Sagittarius on YouTube, Agutin emphasized that SHAMAN has a powerful vocal, but his musical direction and performance style have a very direct and even basis. Therefore, the artist could not understand what to do with it.
In addition, Agutin pointed out that the hallmark of Dronov is a pronounced “folk school” of performance.
“I’m not saying it’s bad. But we have Pelageya, a populist,” he said.
The singer also mentioned that different judges on the program preferred artists with different vocal styles. For example, Alexander Gradsky, who passed away in 2021, more often chose participants with an academic style of performance. On the other hand, Leonid Agutin preferred singers specializing in jazz and soul.
Yaroslav Dronov, who later took the pseudonym SHAMAN, took part in the third season of “The Voice” and eventually reached the final, in the Pelagia team.
