Aeroflot spoke about new compensation for flight delays

Starting from Monday, October 2, the airline is launching compensation to passengers for flight delays with miles as part of the Aeroflot Bonus loyalty program.
According to the press service of the air carrier, bonus miles will be awarded when flights are delayed due to the fault of the airline. The innovation will be in effect in addition to the compensation measures already established by the legislation of the Russian Federation.
“Compensation miles are accrued in the following amount:
- delay time from 2 to 4 hours – 2,000 miles;
- delay time from 4 to 8 hours – 3,000 miles;
- delay time from 8 hours is 4,000 miles,” the carrier’s message notes.
If the member number is indicated in the ticket booking, miles will be credited automatically. In other situations, passengers seeking compensation will be required to register for the rewards program and then submit a special request online using the feedback form.
The airline also noted that miles awarded to passengers as compensation are non-qualifying. The carrier previously announced that non-qualifying miles could be exchanged for qualifying ones.
“Additional compensation for flight delays with Aeroflot Bonus miles is another measure of the airline that allows us to increase the level of service and loyalty of our passengers… The innovation will allow us to increase compensation to air travelers for inconvenience, and will also become an incentive for us to maintain a consistently high level of punctuality,” – summarized Aeroflot CEO Sergei Aleksandrovsky.
