As reported by the Aeroflot press service, the company has begun testing a service for transporting animals in a container on the seat adjacent to the owner passenger.

It is clarified that one passenger can transport one container with an animal or bird in an adjacent seat in Economy, Comfort or Business class of service. However, restrictions may apply on some aircraft. The pet cannot be removed from the carrier; the animal must remain in it throughout the entire flight.

“Payment for an additional seat is carried out at the rate applicable to an adult passenger. In accordance with safety regulations, the container may only be placed on seats near the window. In Business class on Airbus A350 aircraft, container placement is only possible in the middle block of seats on odd-numbered rows,” follows from the air carrier’s press release.

The total weight of the container with an animal or bird should not exceed 15 kg. The maximum dimensions of a rigid container are 50x30x30 cm, semi-rigid – no more than 50x32x30 cm. In addition, the pet must be able to stand up to its full height in the carrier, as well as turn around itself. The container must be tightly secured to the seat with a seat belt; for this, the carrier must be equipped with a special handle or loop.

The company clarified that the pilot stage for the transportation of animals applies to the air carrier’s own flights until March 20, 2024. The airline can then extend the service permanently.
