To increase the level of anti-terrorist protection of the Kursk NPP, at a meeting of the regional operational headquarters it was proposed to provide “a special legal regime during the period of the special operation.” The government of the Kursk region spoke about this. A corresponding decision should be made in the coming days.
In particular, it will affect people’s access to the nuclear power plant’s safety zone—it will be limited. We are talking about fishing in unforeseen places, photo and video filming. “It will also be prohibited to hold cultural, sports and other public events that are not related to the activities and construction of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant,” the regional government added.
In addition, it is planned to retrofit the station’s security zone with engineering and technical security equipment. Violation of additional security requirements will result in administrative liability.
The last time an attack on the Kursk nuclear power plant was reported was at the end of October 2023. Then a Ukrainian UAV crashed into the station’s nuclear waste warehouse, damaging its walls, and two more drones fell on a complex of administrative buildings.
