Actor Rudenko, caught with drugs, can avoid prison

The detention of 41-year-old actor Anatoly Rudenko came as a shock to the artistic world. Let us remind you that the star of the series was found to have 0.5 g of mephedrone. Moreover, according to a number of Telegram channels, a package with a prohibited substance was taped to the actor’s body under his underpants. Currently, Rudenko faces imprisonment for up to three years. However, star lawyer Yulia Verbitskaya assured MK: the actor will be able to avoid prison if he behaves correctly.
In accordance with Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, illegal acquisition, storage and (or) transportation without the purpose of selling narcotic drugs in a significant amount is punishable by restriction of liberty for a term of up to three years, or imprisonment for the same term. They may also be sentenced to correctional labor for up to two years or compulsory labor for up to four hundred and eighty hours. In addition, those convicted under this article may be fined up to forty thousand rubles or in the amount of the wages or other income of the convicted person for a period of up to three months.
The actor himself continues to claim that he found the prohibited substance while walking his dog in the park. According to Rudenko, he assumed that this was poison for animals, which was scattered by dog hunters, so he took it with him.
“If Rudenko was detained with narcotic drugs, especially hidden in such a peculiar way, denying the obvious facts is not the most reasonable version of the defense,” says lawyer Yulia Verbitskaya. – Such a denial can only lead to a significant increase in investigative actions – after all, investigators are obliged to prove the actor’s guilt.
Verbitskaya confirms: if other episodes are established as part of the investigation, this will lead to reclassification of the act and heavier punishment. Which will lead to much more serious consequences, including imprisonment for a term of 10 to 15 years.
“Anatoly should under no circumstances persist and deny obvious things,” Verbitskaya continues. – On the contrary, he should, firstly, hand over the narcotic drugs immediately and in full to the operational officers. Secondly, I would recommend Anatoly to actively contribute to the detection and suppression of further crimes related to the illicit trafficking of these funds and the exposure of those who committed them. Under such circumstances, Rudenko will be able to avoid criminal liability under approx. 1 tsp. 1 tbsp. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
“An attempt to deceive the investigation or hide (falsely interpret) obvious facts established by the investigation can lead to extremely negative consequences for Anatoly,” Verbitskaya assures.
