The special forces of the Armenian police began to detain the participants of the rally near the 102nd Russian military base, located in the city of Gyumri in northern Armenia, Interfax reported on Sunday.
The police warned the audience about the illegality of the action and demanded to stop it. The demonstrators responded to this demand by shouting anti-Russian slogans, the agency explains.
Earlier, the police cordoned off the territory of the base, where a protest action is taking place, the participants of which demand to unblock the Lachin corridor linking Karabakh with Armenia. It has been blocked by the Azerbaijani side since December 12.
About 200 people participate in the action. It was organized by the National Democratic Pole, which includes several parties, including Sasna Tsrer, which seized the police building in Yerevan in 2016.
The participants of the rally at the Russian military bases announced the need for Armenia to withdraw from the CSTO, while at the same time demanding that Russian peacekeepers unblock the Lachin corridor.
