Accomplices of Mavridi explained why they fled with him from the detention center

They were afraid of too severe punishment
The next court hearing in the high-profile case of the escape of Alexander Mavridi – the likely killer of the “sausage king” Vladimir Marugov – and other prisoners from the Istra temporary detention center, which took place in August 2021, was held in the Moscow Regional Court.
Mavridi was again in the role that had already become familiar to journalists – he covered himself with a sheet of paper with a bloody surrealistic drawing. He and the other defendants – Denis Grozava, Alexander Butnaru, Nikolay Teterya and Ivan Tsurkana were guarded by two officers of the FSSP special forces and three soldiers of the special forces of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
During the court session, the prosecutor read out the testimony that the defendants, who had escaped from the temporary detention center together with Mavridi, had previously given to the investigators. From them it followed that the main motive for the escape for them was the “too strict deadline” that the prosecutor requested for them. After the prosecutor finished reading the testimony, the judge turned to the defendants with practically the same questions – “Are you repentant?”, “Won’t this happen again?”, “Won’t you do this again?” Everyone to whom the judge addressed, as one assured him of their repentance and confirmed the motives they had previously voiced.
Recall that the escape from the Istra IVS caused a large number of questions from both investigators and journalists – why did a particularly dangerous criminal (Mavridi) end up in the same cell with his countrymen from Moldova? How did one of them have a wrench left after all the searches, with the help of which they made their escape? For what reason did the TDF officers not stop the escape, given the video surveillance system?
The next hearing in this case will take place on November 16. During it, a certain video recording will be examined, as well as a number of important witnesses will be interrogated.
