Accomplice of Yaponchik’s killer sentenced

An accomplice in the murder of the famous crime boss Vyacheslav Ivankov, nicknamed Yaponchik, was convicted on Tuesday by the Moscow City Court. The verdict was passed in absentia, as the accomplice is hiding abroad.
Nugzar Papava participated in the assassination attempt on Yaponchik, which occurred on July 28, 2009 near a restaurant on Khoroshevskoye Highway. Papava’s role was that he spied Ivankov, at the time of the crime he specified when to fire the shot, and helped the killer escape from the scene. Let us remind you that Ivankov died on October 9 in the hospital from his wound.
As reported by the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor of the Moscow Prosecutor’s Office, the court sentenced Papava to 16 years in prison to be served in a maximum security correctional colony.
