Accidents on Russian roads increased by 5.1% – Kommersant

The number of accidents on Russian roads since the beginning of the year has increased by 5.1% (up to 110 thousand accidents), as follows from the reports of the Russian State Traffic Safety Inspectorate for ten months of this year. The number of deaths in them increased by 2.5% (to 11.8 thousand), the number of wounded – by 4.5% (to 137.7 thousand).

Among the subjects of the federation, the largest increase in accidents is in the Omsk region (+35.6% compared to the same period last year), the Republic of Kalmykia (+34.4%), the Novosibirsk region (+25.8%), the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania (+23 .8%), Kostroma region (+22.5%). Regions with the maximum increase in the number of deaths in road accidents: the Republic of Karelia (+80%), the Republic of Kalmykia (+61.4%), the Republic of Tyva (+50%), Yaroslavl (+43.7%) and Ivanovo (+36.8) %) region.

In Russia as a whole, the number of collisions increased by 5% (up to 48.5 thousand), rollovers by 30.9% (up to 3.69 thousand), collisions with cyclists by 11% (4.98 thousand), by 4.2% – collisions with obstacles (5.34 thousand). The number of accidents due to technical malfunction of vehicles decreased by 9.4% (to 144).

84.8 thousand accidents occurred in settlements and cities (+7%), on federal roads – 15.3 thousand accidents (+4.4%), on regional or intermunicipal roads – 21.6 thousand (+1 .7%), local significance – 72.9 thousand (+6.3%), on toll roads – 561 accidents (+7.5%). Accidents in areas monitored by stationary traffic cameras decreased by 24% (to 18.5 thousand incidents).

Let us remind you that the accident rate on Russian roads has been growing since the beginning of the year (previously it was decreasing), as Kommersant reported earlier. Among the main reasons, the traffic police cites the redirection of cargo flows from west to east and the growing popularity of auto tourism. In August, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin gave a number of instructions (including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, and regional authorities) to develop measures to reduce the increase in road accidents.
