About 40% of relocants who left in 2022 returned to Russia, reported “Izvestia” in the Finion company, which specializes in assistance in obtaining residence permits abroad. The demand for residence permits among Russians fell tenfold in 2023, the company noted.
Finion provides data based on a survey of 2.7 thousand current or potential clients. The recruiting company HeadHunter, based on an analysis of the resumes of applicants who changed their place of residence from Russia to another country last year, reported that approximately 26% of relocants returned to Russia.
According to Rosstat, in the first half of 2022, 419 thousand people left Russia. Sources Forbes reported that after the announcement of mobilization in September last year, approximately 700 thousand people left the country, 200 thousand of them went to Kazakhstan.
In October, the Financial Times reported about 15% of relocants who returned to Russia. According to data cited by the FT, Russians are coming back due to the worsening situation in the Middle East, as well as deteriorating living conditions abroad.
