About 20 students of theological educational institutions received summons, they returned to their studies

Up to 20 students of higher theological educational institutions of the Russian Orthodox Church received summons for mobilization. All of them returned to study after submitting their study documents, Archpriest Maxim Kozlov, chairman of the ROC Educational Committee, said.

“There were not so many cases of sending subpoenas to our 42 higher theological educational institutions on the territory of Russia – about 20 cases, but in fact in all situations the provision of documents stating that this is a student of the theological educational institution of the Russian Church helped to solve the situation, and they returned to study,” said Archpriest Maxim Kozlov “Russia 24”.

The presidential decree on deferment from conscription withdrew 8,000 students from spiritual educational organizations from partial mobilization. Mr. Kozlov noted that a clergyman cannot take “he cannot take up arms with the intent to kill.” “He can and should defend his homeland in a different way, and historically the priesthood has always been present at the fronts in difficult times, but precisely for the purpose of spiritual support for the soldiers, and not for personal participation in hostilities,” added the chairman of the educational committee of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill at the end of September urged believers to resort to “spiritual mobilization”. In his opinion, now the Russian Federation and Ukraine “have lived up to a fateful time”, which should encourage their citizens to reconsider many things.
