About 1,200 roofs of residential buildings were repaired in Moscow

In 2022, the specialists of the Municipal Economy Complex carried out a major overhaul of almost 1.2 thousand roofs of multi-apartment residential buildings. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow in the Moscow Government Pyotr Biryukov.

“The events were carried out as part of the regional overhaul program, they put in order 1,179 roofs with a total area of ​​1.7 million square meters. The list of works included a complete replacement of the roofing, repair of slab joints, roof junctions with pediments and cornices, and renovation of the fence,” explained Pyotr Biryukov.

Roof repair is a seasonal type of work, it is carried out only at a positive air temperature.

“First, the old waterproofing and several layers of roofing material are removed, under which there is a reinforced concrete screed. If it requires repair, it is partly recast or replaced entirely. After that, a polymer-bitumen material is laid on top, which allows the roof to withstand sudden temperature changes,” emphasized Pyotr Biryukov.

Overhaul of pitched metal roofs can be carried out year-round. As the head of the Municipal Economy Complex explained, during the repair, the old coating is replaced with galvanized metal, the attic floor is insulated, which increases the energy efficiency of the building.

Replacing the roofing of residential buildings – objects of cultural heritage is under special control.
