Wherever you throw it, everywhere is a wedge – such is the situation with the cancellation of classes in schools due to the cold. For example, in Orenburg, children went to classes in classes where the temperature ranges from 14 to 17 degrees. “What do you want, the school has cooled down over the holidays and has not warmed up yet,” the administration shrug their shoulders. Somewhere in the cities and villages, to the displeasure of parents, they introduced a “frosty” distance or “free visit”.

Meanwhile, the north-east of the European part of Russia and Northern Siberia were thoroughly covered by an Arctic cyclone: ​​a record of -73 degrees was recorded in the Krasnoyarsk Territory! And until the very Epiphany, the frost is not going to leave.

Many people remember the “mantra” from the old days: when it is minus 25, the junior classes do not study, when it is minus 27, the middle ones, when the frost is below 30, everyone does not go to study. Everywhere, including in Moscow, children were waiting for extreme frosts with bated breath. If the school is canceled – and into the yard or up the hill …

Today’s children, of course, are more likely to stay at home and bury themselves in smartphones. But they waited too. In some regions, in Tatarstan and the Kurgan region, for example, where the frosts lasted only 2-3 days after the holidays, the holidays were extended for this period.

Others were officially transferred to the distance: in Mordovia, in a number of regions of the Arkhangelsk and Perm Territories. But the vast majority of local authorities in the territory from Kostroma to Yugra and from Penza to Yekaterinburg, where frosts of -30 … -40 degrees and below, made a “knight’s move”, introducing free attendance at schools. That is, parents themselves decide whether to go to school to freeze their children or to slovenly at home.

“At home, my son does nothing, he only creates the appearance of studying,” complains the mother of a 5th grade student from Verkhneuralsk in the Chelyabinsk region. – I sat at home for half of December – and again. I understand that normal distance is difficult to provide, but if someone goes to school and others do not, this is also not normal. And one more thing: kindergartens work for us, no one is thinking of transferring them to a free mode. And schoolchildren are lazy at home!

However, local authorities and departments of education could have made such a Solomon decision due to the fact that the parents of schoolchildren, exhausted by the covid history, react aggressively to the distance learning. In the same Yekaterinburg and other parts of the Urals, people several times openly protested against distance learning in schools. And in Tyumen, in December, a group of parents organized a demarche, bringing their children to a school that local authorities had closed “due to SARS.”

On the other hand, frosts are such that in many areas, as they say, without options. On Sakhalin, for example, they announced a remote school for grades 1-4 for January 16-18: they predict temperatures down to -46 degrees. The coldest now is to the Krasnoyarsk Territory: in the north of the region, an unprecedented frost, even for the Evenk region, was recorded at minus 73 degrees. What kind of study is there: it’s even hard to breathe on the street, stationary heating points are organized on the roads …

Severe frosts are not only in the Irkutsk, Perm, Arkhangelsk regions and Yakutia, but also in Karelia, the Komi Republic, Penza, Saratov … And only the central regions enjoy moderate colds of several degrees below zero.

“Thank God that the first half of the year started well for us,” admits the head teacher of an elementary school from Moscow, Lidia Leonidova. – And then, after all, they also talked about remote control. Due to the SARS and flu epidemic in November-December, a lot of material was not covered. Now, right after the holidays, many schools are actively testing the material of the program for the second quarter. Subject teachers also say that there are lags, some of them did not have time to pass on several topics. Especially such items that are only once a week in the schedule of children are. We are strenuously catching up due to project activities, homework, essays, etc.

The senior classes have their own complexity: there January-February is, consider, already the Unified State Examination-OGE. No matter how the children dream of long vacations and remote work, it’s good that the frosts are gone. And we can get started right away.

– I’m not a supporter. Well, you can anoint your face, and an adult too, whose skin is tender and stings with frost.
