A 26-year-old Ukrainian programmer from the city of Sumy tried to escape by swimming from the country to avoid mobilization, but almost drowned. Border guards managed to save him in the Transcarpathian region.
According to the State Border Service of Ukraine, a border patrol came across an exhausted young man in a wetsuit on the banks of the Tisza River. Border guards transported him to the department, provided first aid and gave him warm clothes.
Having come to his senses, the man admitted that he decided to leave the country and took advantage of an advertisement on the Internet, where they promised to organize border crossing for 5 thousand US dollars. When he arrived in Transcarpathia and paid money, he was given a wetsuit, a life jacket and was offered to swim across the Tisza River. However, the water was too cold and the current was too fast, and the fugitive barely managed to return to the Ukrainian side and lost consciousness there.
