“Space of the Future” at the Department of Radio Engineering and IT will advance science in radio navigation, lasers and microwaves
At the Department of Information Technologies in Radio Engineering, Moscow State Technical University. N.E. Bauman opened a new scientific laboratory. From now on, Baumanka students will be able to explore modern methods of digital signal processing, including in the field of artificial intelligence. Further development of “digital” in radio electronics will allow optimizing the solution of scientific and applied problems in satellite navigation, laser information systems, microwave devices, radio telescopes and antennas.
The transformable auditorium allows you to accommodate two independent classes for groups of 15–19 people or host a single group of up to 34 people. The educational complex is equipped with powerful computers and modern multimedia. The educational space allows for lectures, seminars, laboratory classes, and defense of works using computer modeling.
The opening of the laboratory was attended by the rector of MSTU. N.E. Bauman Mikhail Gordin, head of the RL1 department Sergei Karutin, general designer of the GLONASS system Irina Kharisova, chairman of the Board of Directors of VNIIR-Progress JSC Vladislav Kostin.
Addressing the first guests of the laboratory, Mikhail Gordin emphasized that the opportunity to directly interact with industry is very valuable for MSTU. After all, it is impossible to prepare future engineers only in classrooms.
The head of the department of IT and radio electronics emphasized that the new educational and production complex will use domestic software: KOMPAS-3D, SimInTech (Simintech), as well as programs developed at the RL1 department. Sergei Karutin named promising areas for the laboratory’s work as research into semiconductor devices through remote access, including via satellite, and fundamental research using large radio telescopes, in particular to optimize the operation of the domestic GLONASS communication system.
