MISIS University, together with Nuclear University and Tomsk State University, have started developing a joint educational program that will be aimed at training specialists to work at MegaScience facilities.

MISIS

This program has been running at MISIS for three years already, about seventy people have already passed it – these are students of MEPhI, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, MIET, Lomonosov Moscow State University. They gained new knowledge and competencies in such areas as particle physics, accelerator physics, and engineering of large installations.

As Alevtina Chernikova, rector of MISIS University, noted, the program is called “New technologies for the search for new physical effects». The universities that will participate in its development and promotion are competent in the field of elementary particle physics, have experience in creating and implementing developments in MegaScience projects. Therefore, there is confidence that at the end of the training, all students will receive theoretical and practical skills in working on MegaScience installations.

NRNU MEPhI Rector Vladimir Shevchenko said that the main idea of the program is to tell students who specialize in engineering tasks and applied things related to IT technologies about the fundamental problems that high energy physics solves. And, on the contrary, to acquaint those who are more interested in solving problems related to the fundamental properties of matter with the technological challenges that stand on the instrumental side of this science.

It has already been announced that the lectures of the program will be held in Russian and English online and in person. This will make the program more accessible to students from different cities of the country.
