The woman’s husband has already been detained

This year, Malaga in Spain seems to be breaking records for intimate deaths. The death of a 44-year-old American tourist was the third such incident since the beginning of the year. The scenario of all deaths is almost identical. The body of an American woman was found in an apartment in the historical center of the city. Law enforcement officers managed to quickly detain the woman’s 50-year-old husband. The case is now being examined in the context of sexist violence.

The body of a 44-year-old woman was discovered on April 6 in a tourist apartment located in Plaza Enrique García Herrera in Malaga. Spanish police quickly arrested her 50-year-old husband as sources close to the case told local media the death may have been linked to some “extreme sexual practices” that the couple appeared to indulge in.

The careless husband was arrested for negligent homicide. According to local media reports, the case was investigated as gender-based violence and later classified as murder because available evidence indicated an accidental death during extreme or risky sexual practices in an “intimate context.”

But local press later said that new procedures carried out by investigators led to a different conclusion. Detectives considered the case to fit into the context of sexist violence.

According to Spanish press reports, the 50-year-old man appeared on Monday before a judge at Malaga Investigative Court No. 9, who ordered the suspect’s temporary detention without bail.

Judicial sources confirmed to La Opinion De Malaga that due to the nature of the incident, the case will now be referred to the Violence Against Women Court.

The events took place last Saturday. Local police received a tip about a woman who had not been answering calls for some time. It is reported that doctors who arrived at the scene could only ascertain the death of the tourist. After this, the National Police took over the investigation to find out the cause of the incident. The American woman’s body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.

If sexual motives are confirmed, it will be the third such death in Malaga this year. The Spanish National Police continues to investigate the case.
