A Swedish court acquitted a man detained on suspicion of spying for Russia.

A man detained in Sweden at the end of November 2022, suspected of illegal intelligence activities in favor of Russia, was acquitted. The corresponding decision was made by the Stockholm District Court.
It was previously reported that the 60-year-old businessman was suspected of using his companies to transmit confidential information to Russian intelligence. Prosecutors also believed that his business was “part of the Russian state system for illegally acquiring technology in the West” and circumventing sanctions.
The prosecutor’s office alleged that the businessman collaborated with Swedes and foreigners, some of whom used fictitious names.
