Kremlin: the new speaker of the House of Representatives will not affect the provision of assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Republican Mike Johnson, who disagrees with the White House policy towards Ukraine and was previously elected speaker of the US House of Representatives, is unlikely to be able to influence Washington’s position on this issue. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“No, I don’t think so,” he answered the corresponding question.
Commenting on Slovakia’s refusal to supply weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Peskov emphasized that the United States remains the “main helmsman” in this process, and the longer they “add fuel to the fire,” the longer the special operation will continue.
“But still, this will not be able to change the course of events; Russia will achieve its goals,” he added.
As previously reported, Johnson was supported by former US President Donald Trump some time before the start of voting in the House of Representatives. As a result, the politician received 220 votes from his party members.
US President Joe Biden on October 20 asked Congress to allocate additional funding for military assistance to Ukraine and Israel. The total amount of the request is $105.85 billion, of which $61.4 billion is intended for Kyiv, and $14.3 billion for Tel Aviv. Since the beginning of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, Washington, according to the Pentagon, has allocated a total of more than $43 billion to Kyiv for military assistance. American authorities announced the previous package at the end of July. Then the amount of funding amounted to $400 million. Russia opposes funding for the Ukrainian military.
