A suicide bomber who was planning to blow up a Moscow cinema is being kept in terrible conditions.

He keeps going blind

The story of Artur Maslakov, a suicide bomber who, according to investigators, was planning to blow up the Kyrgyzstan cinema in eastern Moscow in 2013, received an unexpected continuation. Let us recall that in the spring of 2021 he was released from the colony due to illness: in prison, Maslakov was almost blind. By that time, the man had served almost 7 years out of 12 received by the court.

As MK learned, Maslakov did not remain free for long – the court order to release him was protested by the prosecutor, and as a result he was sent back to jail. Once in penal colony No. 2 in the Tyumen region, the prisoner had an argument with one of the colony employees. An employee of the Federal Penitentiary Service filed a complaint against him with law enforcement agencies. As a result, Maslakov was found guilty under Article 321 of the Criminal Code (“disorganization of the work of a correctional institution”) and sentenced to 1 month in prison. Immediately after this, Maslakov was placed in the SUS – a detachment of strict detention conditions. Any communications with the outside world are prohibited there.

Placement in the SUS had an extremely negative impact on Maslakov’s health: the convict continues to go blind. He appealed to human rights activists with a request to abolish this type of punishment.
