According to him, the first wave of flood will come to the city on the night of April 9.

“Compatriots, the flood forecast is rapidly deteriorating, the water is arriving much more and faster,” the governor said, clarifying that during a large-scale flood in Kurgan in 1994, the water in Tobol rose above 10 m. That year, a state of emergency in Kurgan due to flooding lasted for a month, several roads, dams and bridges were destroyed, 114 settlements were flooded, and 200 thousand residents suffered material damage. Mr. Shumkov, on the Rossiya 24 TV channel, also complained about Kazakhstan, which has increased the discharge of water into the Tobol: “We are already receiving 3.3 thousand cubic meters instead of 70 cubic meters per second.”

According to officials, by the morning of April 8, 571 people had been evacuated. Deputy head of the region for social policy Natalya Kirillova assured that 76 temporary accommodation points at schools, hospitals and camps (with a total capacity of about 16 thousand people) have been prepared for evacuation. We cannot accurately predict what the height of the flood mark will be, so we are preparing,” he added. Alexander Moor called for being prepared “for any development of the situation.” According to him, the authorities plan to use 2.6 thousand units of equipment, 194 watercraft and a group of 12 thousand people.
Against this background, the Ulyanovsk administration reported on the successful passage of the first peak of the flood: “As a result of the coordinated actions of the CHPP-1 dams and the working village of Isheevka, the level of the Sviyaga and Seld rivers can be kept at acceptable levels.” The buildings in Ulyanovsk itself were not flooded, but “12 summer cottages remain partially flooded,” where no one lives, the mayor’s office assured.
Stabilization of the flood situation was also announced in the Samara region.
In the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations reportedthat 50 private houses and 901 household plots were flooded, but they emphasized that 263 houses and 191 plots were “freed from water”.
The fact that the flood situation remains tense, but controllable, was stated by the governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Alexey Teksler, who noted the trend “towards a decrease in the water level and the passage of the peak of the flood.” “Nevertheless, there is still a lot of snow on the fields, it’s too early to relax,” he added.
