The Azerbaijani authorities have created a special government group to resolve issues related to the entry of Nagorno-Karabakh into Azerbaijan. About it stated Adviser to the President of Azerbaijan on Foreign Policy Hikmet Hajiyev in an interview with Politico.
According to him, guaranteeing access to humanitarian aid “once again demonstrates the good intentions and seriousness of the Azerbaijani government to meet the needs and demands of the people of Armenia, as well as to ensure a safe and dignified reintegration process.”
On September 19, Azerbaijan began “anti-terrorism measures” to “restorate the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh. Baku demanded the dissolution of the regional government and the withdrawal of Armenian troops. Yerevan denied the presence of its troops in the region.
The next day, September 20, the authorities of the unrecognized Karabakh announced a ceasefire and the surrender of weapons. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia is ready to accept refugees from Karabakh, but at the moment, according to the authorities, there is no direct threat to the civilian population of the region.
