The State Commission on Radio Frequencies (SCRF) approved the allocation of two frequency ranges for the work of a single operator for controlling unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in Russia, Dmitry Tur, director of the department for state regulation of the telecommunications market of the Ministry of Digital Development, said at the Spectrum forum on October 24.
Vedomosti reviewed the recording of Tour’s speech; a representative of the Ministry of Digital Development confirmed the official’s speech at the event. As the interlocutor in the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development clarified, the operator of this infrastructure has not yet been approved: “It must be determined by the government.”
According to Tour, the issue of UAV operation was discussed at one of the last meetings of the SCRF. As part of this meeting, the frequency ranges 390–400 MHz and 5 GHz were allocated for the development of unmanned aircraft. “We are talking about a unified system of ground infrastructure for the drone control line. There is a big program. And this infrastructure will be created by an operator who will be determined… well, within the framework of the Federal Air Transport Agency,” Tur noted.
