The Investigative Directorate of the RF Investigative Committee for the Altai Territory told reporters that the mother who beat her newborn daughter in the Barnaul crisis center was taken into custody.
The department’s report states that on November 29, at the request of an Investigative Committee investigator, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to a woman suspected of causing grievous harm to the health of her child.
Earlier it became known that a resident of the city of Barnaul, while in a crisis center, hit her newborn daughter several times in an attempt to calm her down, as a result of which the child’s health was seriously harmed. It is noted that a criminal case was opened against the girl under paragraph “b” of Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“intentional infliction of grievous harm to the health of a minor”). The head of the Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to report on the progress of the investigation into the incident.
