“Once the application started working, it became very easy to report whatever you want,” says Russian-speaking local guide Deng Kulap. – At first everyone thought that they wouldn’t use it, they were afraid that it would be difficult. On Thursday, I inform you in advance through the application that Russian illegal immigrants are working in Chalong. It’s true, there are plenty of them out there. But by the Friday I need, they are blown away like the wind.

Well, this version of the local guide largely explains the strange things going on with the hotline, solemnly launched, accompanied by a press conference, by the Phuket immigration service. The app’s “pin” in Thai reads: “Are you having problems? You can report this very easily.” And then instructions on how exactly. Everything is very simple: date of the incident, name of the informant (can be conditional), telephone number of the informant, reason for the complaint (visa violations, work without a license, etc., description of the incident (briefly), crime scene (select from the suggested ones – Phuket Town, Kathu, Thalang and other areas of the island).

“You have to give your phone number there,” I ask the Russian-speaking Phuket guide Deng. – If it’s a false call, then you will be held accountable!

– The call is not false. There are a lot of people who work illegally as guides. But I don’t have time to catch them; I need to earn bread for my family. Therefore, I am simply proactively clearing the way for myself from your competitors where I am going myself. And then it’s not my business which of them is warned and which of them is caught. The main thing is that in this way they do not interfere with me.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Colonel Sakkarin Anusamansakun, who led the Phuket Tourist Police team, says there has been no confirmation of “concerned citizens’ signals” regarding the Chalong Temple.

“Our authorities created the application to interest Phuket residents in cooperation with the immigration office,” says Mr. Anusamansakun. – So that those who know about the offenses of foreigners should not be afraid to report them, because not everyone will personally go to the police. The signals go directly to the Immigration Department of Phuket Province. We were prepared that some of the signals would not be confirmed, but the main thing for us is that illegal immigrants know: we work and respond to all messages without exception.

Meanwhile, another Phuket police unit under the command of Sermphan Sirikong was forced to resort to the help of special forces, who kept a villa with tourists in the Bang Tao area under siege for almost 5 hours.

“It all started with a signal in the application that an Indian with an expired visa was living in the villa,” says Songchai, the owner of a guesthouse nearby. “I roughly understand who could have reported it—the neighbors.” Nobody likes this villa with Indian parties here, there are always strange sounds from there. And when the squad from the immigration office arrived, one jumped out with a baseball bat and was the first to attack. Then they called special forces. And the guests barricaded themselves in the villa.

As a result of the special operation, instead of the Indian “promised” through the application with an expired visa, three people were found in the stormed villa – an Indian citizen, his wife and a 33-year-old Russian citizen. And in addition to visa violations, this international trio kept an underground zoo of wild animals in the villa, including civet cats (wild cats), pythons and rare parrots. In addition to the wild zoo, a whole fleet of vehicles was found in the villa, including taxis and ambulances. The criminal trio has been arrested and has now been taken to the Chergtalay police station.
