A 40-year-old Russian tried to smuggle jewelry worth a total of 5.5 million rubles from Russia to the United Arab Emirates. They were found in luggage by customs officers at Domodedovo airport.
According to the Federal Customs Service of Russia, the man was going to take two rings, watches, checks and certificates for them to the Emirates without declaring them. The examination showed that the products are made of 750 gold and have inserts of diamonds and corundum.
“The amount of unpaid customs duties for goods amounted to 1.3 million rubles. For smuggling strategically important goods, the violator faces from three to seven years in prison with a fine of up to 1 million rubles,” the Federal Customs Service wrote in its Telegram channel.
The day before, the Federal Customs Service reported that illegal removal of 15 engines for infantry fighting vehicles. According to the department, diesel engines worth a total of 25.5 million rubles were going to be transported to Kazakhstan without permits.
