A robot vacuum cleaner from Migo Robotics has been taught to go up and down stairs

Migo Robotics Company opened sales of the Ascender robot vacuum cleaner, the main feature of which is the ability to go up and down stairs. The device can be pre-ordered for $849 as part of a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter; the vacuum cleaner is planned to retail for $1,499.

On horizontal surfaces, Ascender works like a regular cleaning robot, and when used for the first time, it maps the house. However, if the robot detects a staircase, it will be able to go up and down it depending on the situation: first, it will raise or lower its main block above the step and move it forward, and then the side blocks will be pulled towards it, turning along their axis.

The robot vacuum cleaner can track its location using a camera and sensors, allowing it to avoid collisions with obstacles. Ascender uses artificial intelligence technologies and a computing platform with a total performance of 5 teraflops. The dust bag lasts for 60 days, and the clean and dirty water tanks last for 30 days.

Migo Robotics has already attracted over $1.5 million in investments for the development of the robot. The company claims that this is a revolutionary development and that no one has ever developed a robot vacuum cleaner that can climb stairs.
