A resident of the Yaroslavl region was sentenced to 6 years in prison for attempting a terrorist attack.

The 2nd Western District Military Court found Valeria Zotova, a resident of the Yaroslavl region, guilty under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 1 art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Terrorist act”). She was sentenced to six years in prison for attempting to set fire to a help center for mobilized citizens. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Yaroslavl region.

“Kommersant” reported, that 19-year-old Valeria Zotova was detained by the regional FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in February 2023 while trying to set fire to an aid station in the village of Karabikha, Yaroslavl region, using an incendiary mixture. The Yaroslavl Main Telegram channel reported that the girl allegedly spied for the SBU and wanted to set fire to a building in the village where “parcels are collected for those mobilized in the Donbass.”

The investigation found that the girl tried to set fire to the aid station on instructions from a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman “in order to destabilize the activities of the authorities and influence their decision to terminate a special military operation.” She was sentenced to six years in prison to be served in a general regime correctional colony. The court’s verdict has already entered into force.
