A rally-concert in support of the head of the region, Radiy Khabirov, held under the slogan “Strong Republic – Strong Bashkortostan” ended in Ufa. Several thousand people were present in the square. At the same time, the head of the administration of the head of Bashkiria, Maxim Zabelin, wrote in his Telegram channel that “more than 50 thousand residents of the republic came to express solidarity with the leader of the region.” The rally-concert took place exactly a week after the protest action related to the criminal prosecution of Fail Alchinov (listed as a terrorist and extremist).
Republican singers and artists performed on stage: deputy of the Kurultai of Bashkiria Ramil Badamshin, the ensemble named after Faizi Gaskarov, Zainetdi and others. Radiy Khabirov also addressed the audience. “In every society there are people who, for various reasons, are trying to split this society, split our republic, based on the principles of radical extremism. And today we have gathered here together to say: we will not give our Bashkortostan to anyone. We lived here, live and will live here. We will build a prosperous republic here,” said the head of the region. “Today I want to say something else: as the head of the republic, Bashkortostan, within the framework of my powers and my duty, must protect and be the head not only for those who agree with me and support my policies, my decisions, but also those who do not agree with me, with my decisions and beliefs.”
Let us remind you that on January 17, the Baimaksky District Court of Bashkortostan sentenced Fail Alchinov to four years in prison under the article of inciting ethnic hatred – on the same day, a crowd gathered outside the courthouse before the sentencing. The activist participated in actions for the preservation of the Kushtau Shikhan, as well as in a rally in the village of Ishmurzino in the Baymaksky district of Bashkortostan against geological exploration work in the area of the village on the Irandyk mountain range, which took place in April 2023. According to the verdict, in the spring of 2023 he made “a speech of negative content towards persons of Armenian, Caucasian and Central Asian nationalities.” The Investigative Committee of Russia opened criminal cases regarding mass riots (Article 212 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
Protests in support of the activist also took place in Ufa on January 19. The head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, after rallies in support of the activist, called him a traitor who called for guerrilla warfare.
City authorities did not specify who exactly is organizing the rally-concert in support of the head of Bashkortostan. Editorial staff of the online publication ufa1.ru writes that their editorial office was sent screenshots of correspondence from students at one of the republic’s major universities – they wrote that they were recruiting 200 people to participate in a rally in support of Radiy Khabirov.
