The Tverskoy Court of Moscow received a protocol under the article on discredit Russian army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) and violation rules holding pickets (Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation) against activist Maria Baronova, as follows from the cards on the court’s website.
The court registered the case materials on both counts today, January 17. The meeting date has not yet been set. Maria Baronova told Mediazona (announced a foreign agent) that she did not know the reason for drawing up the protocol. Under the article on discrediting the army, it faces a fine of up to 50 thousand rubles, and under the article on violating picket rules – up to 20 thousand rubles.
Maria Baronova was one of the defendants in the “Bolotnaya case”, an assistant to ex-State Duma deputy Ilya Ponomarev (declared a foreign agent and included in the list of terrorists and extremists), worked as a coordinator of “Open Russia” (connected, according to Russian law enforcement agencies, with the British Open Russia Civic Movement, which is considered undesirable). From 2019 to 2022, she was editor-in-chief of the Russia Today TV channel. On November 30 last year, Maria Baronova posted a photo on Twitter of herself standing on Red Square with a bag with the words “No to War” and an LGBT flag.
