A picket took place in Novosibirsk in support of ambulance workers who are quitting due to low wages. The organizer was activist Oleg Metsler, who decided to support doctors, reports a local TV channel “Precedent”.
About 20 people took part in the action, coordinated with the authorities. They also came out with posters: “Work for two rates! Live at work?”, “No to the collapse of the Novosibirsk Ambulance”, “Governor Travnikov – for one doctor’s salary.”
The action was carried out after the publication of the portal NGS.RU, in which ambulance workers in Novosibirsk complained about mass layoffs and an acute shortage of teams to provide even emergency care. The income of doctors has dropped to 30–40 thousand rubles, which is why they have to work at one and a half to two times the rate, and many quit due to the workload. It is alleged that because of this, patients wait 4–12 hours for help.
At the same time, the local Ministry of Health they assurethat the average salary of emergency physicians in the region reaches almost 100 thousand rubles, and the staffing level with emergency physicians is 67.5%, and at employed rates with paramedical personnel – 62.8%.
