Expelled from Latvia with an indefinite ban on return, 82-year-old pensioner Boris Katkov will head from the Pskov region to Kaliningrad. About this in Telegram said the Governor of the Pskov region, Mikhail Vedernikov.

“After spending the night and resting from the road in Pskov, Boris Grigoryevich Katkov, deported from Latvia, decided to go further to Kaliningrad. He worked there for many years and wants to return to Kaliningrad,” wrote Mr. Vedernikov.

According to the governor, the head of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov assured him that in Kaliningrad everything will be ready to meet and accommodate Mr. Katkov, he will be provided with all the necessary assistance and given maximum attention. “For our part, we will ensure a comfortable and safe move,” added Mr. Vedernikov.

Boris Katkov was expelled from Latvia because the republican authorities recognized him as a threat to national security. According to the pensioner, he received the order to leave Latvia on January 10. He planned to appeal the decision within the required 30 days, but on January 12, border officials ordered him to leave the country. The Latvian Ministry of Internal Affairs explained to Delfi that Boris Katkov was “blacklisted on the initiative of the State Security Service due to long-term and systematic cooperation in the interests of the Russian Federation.”

Boris Katkov has lived in Latvia since 1966, and since 1999 he has headed the Latvian-Russian Cooperation Association. The association organized events on the occasion of Russian public holidays, and Boris Katkov himself met with Russian and Latvian politicians, Delfi notes. On the night of today, January 13, he arrived in the Pskov region. Mr. Vedernikov promised that the man would be sent for a medical examination and provided with the necessary assistance.
