A patient with suspected cholera was hospitalized in Moscow

He is a Russian citizen, came to the capital from India
A 51-year-old man with suspected cholera was hospitalized in one of the infectious diseases hospitals in Moscow. Presumably this is an imported case: a Russian citizen brought a deadly disease from India.
As MK learned, a resident of the capital’s Ostankino district arrived in Moscow on a special plane from India on September 11 (usually such planes are used by diplomats and members of official government delegations). While on the road he felt unwell.
For three days, the citizen was constantly vomiting; in the end, he called the doctors. The victim was taken to the hospital with a suspected intestinal infection. Already there, a preliminary test for cholera gave a positive result.
Now the victim’s condition is assessed as stable, there is no threat to his life. Everyone who had contact with the patient was immediately quarantined – other passengers on the plane, the medical team, as well as the hospital doctors who treated him during his hospitalization. None of them have been diagnosed with a dangerous disease.
It is characteristic that cholera quarantine usually lasts five days, that is, in theory, all those isolated should already be released. But they continue to be kept in the hospital.
