Russian President Vladimir Putin today visited the Dmitry Rogachev Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology. There he met with several patients. One of them, a boy named Vadim, hid from the president under a blanket.

During Mr. Putin’s visit accompanied Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health Viktor Fisenko, General Director of the center Galina Novichkova and Chief Physician Dmitry Litvinov. The head of state inspected the operating rooms, playroom and school rooms, and also visited several patients.

First, Vladimir Putin presented gifts to two girls and took a joint photo with them, kneeling on one knee. After that, the president went into the boy’s room. When he saw Vladimir Putin, the child immediately covered his head with a blanket. The mother standing nearby tried to pull the blanket off the boy, explaining that he was embarrassed by the president.

– Vadim, I won’t give you my phone number. “You’ll be left without a phone for two days,” the woman told her son. In response, the child hid under the blanket again.

– Okay, let him play. What do you play on your phone? – the president asked the child.

“Minecraft,” his mother answered for him.

Then Vladimir Putin gave the patient a gift, placing the box on the edge of the bed. After that, the boy stopped hiding from the president.

The center was opened in 2005 after Vladimir Putin met with a 10-year-old boy who suffered from leukemia. The center is named in his honor. The institution has 150 departments, employing about 1,800 specialists.
