President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin on Saturday opened traffic along the ten-kilometer Bagration Avenue (the old name is the Northern backup of Kutuzovsky Avenue). The six-lane route starts from Moscow City, runs along the Belorussian direction of the Moscow Railway to the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road with Molodogvardeyskaya Street, where it joins the Odintsovo toll bypass. The journey from the Moscow Ring Road to the Business Center along the new highway takes 15 minutes – this is three times faster than before, the capital’s department of transport said. The permitted speed is 90 km/h.
Fares vary from 600 to 1.2 thousand rubles. depending on the class of the vehicle (the lowest price is for owners of passenger cars). When purchasing a transponder from a highway operator, the price is reduced to 415–832 rubles. There are no barriers on the highway; the fact of payment is checked by cameras without stopping. If payment is not made, Rostransnadzor issues a fine of 1.5–5 thousand rubles. (depending on the type of vehicle).
The launch of the route, according to the estimates of the Moscow Data Center, will relieve congestion on Kutuzovsky Prospekt, Mozhaiskoye Highway, MKAD and General Dorokhov Avenue. The estimated traffic is 50 thousand cars per day.
Bagration Avenue was built within the framework of a concession agreement with the New Concession Company (part of the Leader Management Group group), about 65 billion rubles were invested in the route. The bulk of the investments were provided by non-state pension funds of the Gazprom PJSC group. This is the first regional toll road built entirely from scratch. At the beginning of 2022, we recall that the Moscow City Hall introduced tolls for travel along the Moscow High-Speed Diameter, which consists partly of pre-existing sections.
