A monument to Dzerzhinsky was unveiled at the SVR headquarters

It is a copy of the famous monument dismantled from Lubyanka Square

On the birthday of Iron Felix – this is the name of the first head of the domestic state security agencies, Felix Dzerzhinsky – Bronze Felix appeared in Moscow. The monument was unveiled on the territory of the headquarters of the Foreign Intelligence Service in Yasenevo.

In the “forest” (as the SVR headquarters is called), he is visible only to those who work in the Service, know its history and consider Dzerzhinsky “a man with a cool head, a warm heart and clean hands.” Let us remember that this catchphrase, which gave a description of a real security officer, belongs to Dzerzhinsky.

Dozens of books have been written about Dzerzhinsky. And yet his name still causes fierce controversy. But in reality he is an example of how a person can be multifaceted. He was a nobleman, but became a revolutionary; he believed in God – he became an atheist; he was a nationalist (in his youth) – he became an internationalist.

The sculpture, which was installed on the territory of the SVR on September 11, is a small copy of the monument to Dzerzhinsky on Lubyanka Square, created in 1958 by Soviet sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich (let us remember that that monument was removed in 1991, now it stands in Muzeon Park).

The head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergei Naryshkin, noted at the opening that Dzerzhinsky delved into all the intricacies of operational art and personally worked with those going abroad to carry out special missions. For your information, Iron Felix himself was an illegal immigrant and had solid experience in personal underground work.
