Governor Nosov proposed creating a monument from sunken ships in Magadan
During a meeting on cleaning the bottom of the Sea of Okhotsk in Magadan, Governor Sergei Nosov proposed creating a monument using sunken ships.
The waters of the Magadan fishing port have been cleared of sunken ships for several years as part of the federal program “General Cleaning”. The total volume of work performed is 20 units of the “submarine fleet”. In 2023, the fishing port became the property of the region and requires serious reconstruction.
In addition, a draft monument to the Russian diplomat Grigory Shcherbina, who died in Kosovska Mitrovica, was presented. In Serbia, this project was presented and received wide public support.
Governor Nosov expressed the idea of using ships raised from the seabed to create a monument, similar to the already well-known sculpture of the mammoth “Time” in Nagaev Bay, made of iron. He believes that such a monument will symbolically reflect the importance of the ongoing general cleaning in Nagaev Bay.
