Alexander Brod, a member of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation (HRC), said that he would appeal to Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova in connection with the case of St. Petersburg artist Sasha Skochilenko and her medical care. November 16 girl sentenced to seven years in prison in the case of fakes about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

“For my part, I will send an appeal to the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Tatyana Moskalkova. It is important to know her position. In addition, the Ombudsman has the authority to apply to the court or prosecutor’s office with a request to verify the court verdict that has entered into legal force. It is also important to hear the position of the leadership of the FSIN regarding the medical care of Ms. Skochilenko,” said Mr. Brod “RIA News”.

HRC member Eva Merkacheva, commenting on the verdict, said that given the state of health of Sasha Skochilenko, her stay in the colony is “deadly dangerous.” As the lawyers reported, the artist was diagnosed with a heart defect, bipolar disorder and celiac disease (gluten intolerance, which requires a special diet).

Eva Merkacheva recalled that in the spring the Supreme Court proposed banning the detention of persons who suffer from serious illnesses. The corresponding bill passed only the first reading. “If this bill had already been adopted initially, Sasha would not have been taken into custody. That is, there would be no basis for this, because she did not commit violent crimes, and she falls into those categories when such people are not taken into custody,” explained Mrs. Merkacheva.

The reason for the criminal case against Sasha Skochilenko was one of her actions: the artist replaced price tags in the Perekrestok store with stickers with information about the number of victims of a special operation in Ukraine. The day before, doctors wrote in an open letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin asked release the artist from the colony due to her state of health. So far, 313 doctors have signed the letter.
