An outbreak of measles was detected among unvaccinated Baptists in the Kursk region

The outbreak of measles was identified in the Kursk region. The outbreak was recorded among unvaccinated Baptists. This was announced on Monday, February 12, by the deputy governor of the region, Andrei Belostotsky.

According to him, 18 cases of infection were registered in the religious community. Patients, including children, are under medical supervision at home and in the infectious diseases hospital.

He also announced two imported cases of measles – from military personnel who came from the Smolensk region.

Measles – an acute infectious viral disease with a very high level of contagiousness, the causative agent of which is the virus of the same name. It is characterized by high temperature (up to 40.5 °C), inflammation of the mucous membranes of the oral cavity and upper respiratory tract, conjunctivitis and a characteristic maculopapular rash of the skin, general intoxication.
