A laser machine for processing parts of gas turbine engines was developed by a Moscow enterprise specifically for an engine-building corporation. The invention should replace manual labor at the processing stage.

“Moscow high-tech companies often have to solve non-standard problems, which allows them to become more adaptive and flexible. Thus, the developer of laser systems and equipment, the LASSARD company, created a five-axis laser machine on an individual order from the United Engine Corporation,” said Vladislav Ovchinsky, Minister of the Moscow Government, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy. He clarified that with the help of the machine it is planned to automate the process of removing excess material from the holes on the blades. For this purpose, the capital company has already produced two devices. Previously, specialists performed machining of gas turbine engine blades manually. For this, small-sized files were used, which greatly increased production time. The introduction of a laser machine will automate this stage and eliminate the human factor. Inside the device, domestic software is installed that synchronizes the operation of all axes of processing the part, laser and optical head. According to the general director of the company Oleg Nefedov, the machine uses a solid-state laser of its own design, which allows processing the part in a 360-degree projection.
